Dwayne McDuffie was a writer and producer. He worked as a freelance writer for both Marvel and DC Comics before creating his own Milestone Media; a company dedicated to publishing stories about African-American heroes. McDuffie created the character Static, who would in 2000 have his own DC animated Series, Static Shock.
McDuffie went on on to become producer of 69 episodes of Justice League Unlimited. He also wrote 34 episodes of that series. He also wrote for the Teen Titans animated series and wrote the DCU animated films Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths and Justice League: Doom.
McDuffie was one of the interviewees on the DVD bonus feature Aquaman: Sovereign of the Seas. He died tragically a day after his 49th birthday from complications during heart surgery.
