While having no actual superpowers, Black Manta is incredibly smart and a skilled opponent; he is skilled in hand-to-hand combat and is proficient with weaponry such as as sword. Additionally, he is a excellent swimmer and has access to advanced technology.[2][1] Black Manta's suit and equipment affords him various abilities: his suit raises his human physical abilities to superhuman levels (strength and durability) both on land and underwater. His armor is camoflauged black at depth and gives him insulation. He also can breath underwater indefinitely and it protects him against pressure changes.[1]

Black Manta's suit contains a bioelectric seal, able to protect him from hydrokinetic attacks aimed at pulling moisture from his body.[4]
